Employment in the United States (2021)

Employment in the United States is not always easy to access. Studies show that the job market is structured to limit chances for upward social mobility for those in poverty. People of color, poor people, and women experience many disadvantages when applying for or maintaining jobs, a situation which reflects systemic discriminatory practices in the workplace. The resulting effects are reflected across racial and social class lines. We will also look into the history of unemployment, and how the COVID-19 Pandemic has affected employment. The way that our economic system is organized has allowed for the class cycle to continue, punishing minority groups and those in the lower classes.
