This project is an advanced, long-term technical study in fashion history designed for independent instruction through production of full garments, based on primary sources c.1902-1907 and meant to demonstrate principles of sustainability. Resources purchased from small businesses and secondhand establishments supported a central narrative of environmental and practical sustainability, with resulting garments contributing to a portfolio that considered the construction process alongside issues of ethical textile consumption and bodily activism. Further professional development and technical innovation was made possible by support from the Kilmer Undergraduate Research fund, which underwrote my attendance at the 2024 United States Institute of Theatre Technology (USITT) Conference.
