Poster: 2025 AI vs Student Composers

This project focuses on several prompts chosen by a Composition Professor, who will assign students to create a set of examples that will then be tested by the software system, Suno.AI. With permission of selected composition majors, we will discuss and provide examples of how AI has affected composers individually, as well as whether they feel threatened by the evolving generative engines. Suno.AI is one of many generative engines capable of producing a song with lyrics in response to a descriptive prompt provided by the user, from which the stems or lyrics can be extracted for personal song works. In our research, we intend to investigate AI’s capabilities in music composition and whether it can be used as a tool for inspiration or prove to be more sophisticated in the future of music creation.
