Interpretive signage provides site-specific natural, historical, or general interpretive information for the public. Best practices of design require that interpretive signage be understandable to people of all educational backgrounds. Public engagement can be affected by text size; images, colors, and font used; amount of text; and availability of interactive experiences. This study seeks to gauge the effectiveness of existing signage on the Munter Trail in Potsdam, NY, by surveying trail-goers and examining the resulting data using a variety of statistical analysis tools. It is expected that the presence of interpretive signage impacts the trail experience.
